5+ cocktail ideas perfect for summer!

After a long day at work, or a long day in general, there are few things more enjoyable than unwinding while sipping on an icy cocktail.

All you need is some booze, a mixer, and a few friends to spend the evening with. But finding the perfect cocktail for warm weather can be tricky. Don't worry, we've got you covered at Segraeti Monte-Carlo. From fruity drinks to classic cocktails, here is our list of 5 summer cocktails that will help you beat the heat and get you in the mood for fun!

    Cocktail: 01. The Negroni

Negroni is a classic Italian cocktail, consisting of one part gin, one part vermouth rosso (red, semi-sweet) and one part Campari. It is the ideal drink before dinner. Its clarity makes it the ideal cocktail to accompany olives, salumi and cheese. Not too sweet, just bitter enough.

It's one of the easiest cocktails to make, so grab your ingredients and let's get started!

Mix 1 part gin (or vodka), 1 part vermouth and 1 part Campari in a mixing glass. Add ice and stir vigorously for 30 seconds. Strain into a coupe glass or chilled flute. Garnish with an orange zest, if desired.

    Cocktail: 02. Spritz with Aperol

This sparkling wine-based, orange-colored drink is the quintessential summer cocktail, especially in Italy, where locals have been enjoying this refreshing drink for nearly 100 years! This cocktail is made with three parts Prosecco sparkling wine and two parts Aperol (a herbal liqueur), all garnished with a slice of orange.

If you want to make this cocktail a little more complex and interesting, you can add fruit juice instead of water or try using different types of Prosecco, such as Franciacorta made with white wine.

    Cocktail: 03. Mojito

Mojitos are a classic cocktail of Cuban origin. To make one, combine mint leaves with sugar and lime juice in a cocktail shaker. Add the rum and top up with sparkling water (keep the mint leaves) then stir or shake before serving over ice in two tall glasses. Add a drizzle of sparkling water and garnish each drink with a wedge of lime. First put some ice in a glass, then add the ingredients!

    How to prepare a mojito:

    • Grind two limes with mint leaves until the juice from the limes runs out and is nice and fragrant. You can grind them in a glass or use an electric mixer on high speed for about 30 seconds until well broken up into small pieces to get the best taste from all your ingredients.
    • Add the white rum (or whichever you prefer) and simple syrup (or sugar if that's what you have) and stir until combined.
    • Top with ice cubes, frozen raspberries, or watermelon chunks, depending on how messy you want to achieve.)

    Cocktail: 04. The White Russian

The White Russian is a classic cocktail made with vodka, Kahlua and cream. It can be served with ice or ice cubes. It can also be served with a straw, a cherry and a slice of orange or lemon.

It's a perfect summer drink because it doesn't require any mixing like club soda, tonic water, or juice, which make drinks taste too sweet in hot weather.

    • In a shaker filled with ice, pour the Russian Standard vodka, coffee liqueur and fresh cream.
    • Shake and strain into an Old Fashioned glass with ice cubes.
    • 5 cl Vodka Russian Standard
    • 2 cl Coffee liqueur
    • 2 cl fresh cream

    Cocktail: 05. Punch

Punch is a classic drink that has been popular for hundreds of years. It can be made with any type of liqueur, fruit juice and even water. Punch can also be served hot or cold and in many different containers.

    For 8 Liters (i.e. 2 glasses/person):

    • 2 liters of orange juice
    • 1 liter of mango juice
    • 1 liter of exotic fruit juice
    • 2 liters of pineapple juice (if you can, opt for "smoothie" juice, the punch will only be better)
    • 1.5 to 2 liters of white rum (to be adjusted)
    • 1/2 glass of grenadine (mustard glass...)
    • 1/2 glass of cane sugar
    • 2 vanilla pods
    • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
    • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
    • Fresh fruits :
    • 1 pineapple (fresh or canned)
    • 1 golden apple
    • 1 lime
    • 1 lemon
    • 1 orange
    • 1 mango

Start by pouring the rum into a container suitable for the large quantity. Add the fruit juices one after the other. Pour the grenadine, sugar and spices. To mix together. Prepare the fruit: cut the apple, mango and pineapple into cubes. For citrus fruits: prefer thin slices. You can also cut the orange into quarters and remove the skin according to your taste again. Finally, cut the banana into not too thick slices, so that it best diffuses its flavors during the maceration.

Add the fruit to the punch, then the vanilla pods previously split with a knife. Mix again. Leave to stand for 24 hours, cover the container with cling film.
