Interview : Tanja, @homestylingbytan
We'd like to thank decor influencer Tanja, @homestylingbytan on Instagram, for agreeing to answer our questions for you.
Can you tell us about your background and training in a few words?
I'm Tanja Davids. I live in Amersfoort, the Netherlands, and have been doing interior styling since I was young. I worked in the fashion store we had, and in perfumery, I also did Visual Merchandising for a while. In addition, I took a few courses in interior styling.
What is your job ?
When I got sick and had to stay home, I opened a home decor account and have been a content creator for about 4 years now. I do styling for my own account but also for other companies. It really is my passion!
Which designers have inspired you the most for the decoration of your apartment?
I find my inspiration everywhere: on Instagram, with television, films, fashion and I read a lot of interior magazines. A designer who really inspires me is the Dutch Monique des Bouvrie (@moniquedesbouvrie). But also Theo-Bert Pot (@theobert_pot).
What are your influences ?
I really like individuality in an interior, creating a place where you feel good, which really suits you. I particularly appreciate the warm colors, the contrasts and the mix of styles.
What decoration and design brands would you recommend for someone who wants to redo their interior?
I think beautiful home accessories should not be missing, they really give an interior a finishing touch. I also like when a fun object is added. For example, a vase by Jonathan Adler or the Fornasetti brand which also gives a playful accent. In addition, the scented candles cannot be missing, my favorites are those of the Trudon and Boabab brands, they are delicious!
Are you aware of the 2022 trends? Which are your favorites and which ones do you like the least?
Personally, I don't like trends. Of course, I know what the trends are, and sometimes I add something that is "trendy" but the trends quickly get boring… For example, we see a lot at the moment these vases with a hole in the Netherlands , it's not really my thing...
We notice a certain attachment to the terracotta color in your interior. Why did you choose this color, is there a particular reason?
In my own house, the color terracotta has been used for many years. It gives warmth and comfort, which I find very important. I find that a house with white walls, for example, is not really cozy… I am very sensitive to the atmosphere.
What is your other passion?
My other passion is our convertible; when the sun is shining, my husband and I like to ride on the back roads and visit the most beautiful places in the Netherlands.
Which brand best represents you? Why ?
The Pols Potten brand is, if I really have to choose, the brand that suits me best. She's different, that's what I like. I find it beautiful and unique!
Finally, which products from Segraeti would you recommend to your subscribers?
I really like your shop, all the items are very beautiful and special! Many of the products hold my attention. I love the lamps from Element Lighting Paris! When you have them in your home, it makes such a statement, really special! But also the scented candles of Trudon which bring a luxurious aspect so beautiful. I also recommend the silver or gold candlestick from Pols Potten, it really enhances a corner of style. And finally, articles by Jonathan Adler. We never get tired of them and they are both beautiful and functional. But I can name many more! It was an honor to be able to do this interview for you!
